Kirtan is a Sanskrit word that translates into; call, recite, praise, or glorify. It is a form of Bhakti Yoga, which is considered the yogic path of devotion, and it involves signing & chanting in reverence to the Divine. It is a call and response style of singing, reciting holy mantras & invocations that glorify various deities of the Hindu & Vedic traditions who are believed to be manifestations of Ishvara; the Supreme Being, The All, The Divine, or the God of your own understanding. No prior singing or chanting experience is necessary, nor is this a religious experience. All belief systems are welcome as we celebrate the God of our own understanding through song. Each mantra will be written down and explained so that students are able to connect with the practice. Each class will incorporate breathwork, mindfulness, and meditation. Classes will be open to all with the option to bring your own instrument if you have one. No instruments needed. No prior knowledge of Sanskrit needed. This class can be booked as a drop-in, or through an unlimited monthly membership. We have a special Bhakti Membership option for those who wish to come weekly to either our Monday or Friday Kirtan (or both) but are not monthly membership holders.
Please let us know if you need to cancel a class last minute so that we can invite someone from the waitlist to take your place. We understand that life happens, not to worry, if you are unable to show up for class, we will remove your booking so that you don't lose a class pass.
